The 2019 OHDSI Symposium will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference located at 5701 Marinelli Road, North Bethesda, MD, 20852. OHDSI’s mission is to improve health, by empowering a community to collaboratively generate the evidence that promotes better health decisions and better care. As a community we envision a world in which observational research produces a comprehensive understanding of health and disease. OHDSI promotes a collaborative approach to research and has rapidly grown into a vibrant international community. Everyone is welcome to actively participate in OHDSI, whether as a patient, a health professional, a researcher, or someone who simply believes in our cause. The 2019 OHDSI symposium will promote this vision and provide OHDSI collaborators an opportunity to share our accomplishments with the broader healthcare community. The day will include a collaborator showcase involving a poster session to highlight OHDSI’s research achievements and interactive demonstrations of OHDSI’s open-source software tools that will revolutionize how medical evidence is generated. There is no fee to attend this symposium. Unfortunately, it costs money to make knowledge free, and financial support is necessary to sustain our symposiums. Some of us provide our time as in-kind contributions to the collaborative. Others are seeking support to facilitate their contributions to the collaborative through a variety of funding sources such as public government grants, industry contracts, private foundation grants and other opportunities. Therefore, this year we are offering a registration with contribution ticket option (denominations range from $10-$1000). With a registration contribution ticket, your generous contribution will go towards the organizational costs of the 2019 OHDSI Symposium. Funds provided through contribution tickets will be used to offset the costs of hotel meeting-room rentals, food & beverage functions, Wi-Fi and internet connections, electrical, audio/visual arrangements and professional recording fees of the symposium. We thank you in advance for your support!
